Cpl. Daniel R. Amaya of Odessa, Texas graduated from Odessa High School in 2000, where he was a cheerleader and played in the band. He was a man with a great wit who love to play harmless jokes on friends and family. Daniel had nurtured many dreams, including a career with the Marines. As a child, he'd played secret agent games, shooting guns all the while preparing for his passion to serve his country. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Marie . Daniel was killed by hostile gunfire in Anbar province, Iraq during his second tour in Iraq at age 22.
