Rosemary “Cricket” (Stubblefield) Ashley passed away peacefully at 3:42pm in her Bristow, Oklahoma residence on May 25, 2016 from pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded and comforted by her family. Rosemary was 84 years old.

Rosemary was born in Bristow, Oklahoma to Sam and Verna Ruth Stubblefield October 14, 1931 on her Mother’s birthday. The youngest of 10 children, Rosemary attended Bristow rural school, Mountain Home which went to 8th grade. Later she earned her G.E.D. She married the love of her life, Bill Ashley in Van Buren Arkansas on June 8, 1952. They have 2 loving sons, Danny and Dale.

Rosemary loved her 2 boys very much and was proud of their achievements. Rosemary was enthusiastic about her son’s sports activities. She was a proud grandmother and tradition had each grand and great grandchild comforted by their “Me Maw” and later known as “Mi Mi’s” bosom.

Rosemary always looked “put together.” She enjoyed trips to the beauty shop, shopping for coordinating apparel, and later indulged in manicures. Other interests that delighted Rosemary were entertainment, seasonal and scenic trips: select country performers especially those from her teen years, rodeo bull riding, flowering azaleas, the Ozarks, and Christmas lights.

Rosemary worked at Miss Elaine’s Garment Factory, Bristow for 41 years before retiring. She was a Garment Worker Union Member and served as a local representative attending their national assembly.

Rosemary was a social person and had a full schedule of local activities that she embraced. Weekly card games with lady friends, movie day at the bank, senior trips, and she developed a love for water, something she had serious reservations about. After joining the City Pool water aerobics exercise group one summer, Rosemary was hooked and began exercising year round weekly in neighboring community heated pools with her “swim buddies”. And she had more fun sharing stories during those times. Rosemary was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, Bristow where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family and attended regularly.

Rosemary loved to travel. She and Bill would travel with their sons to points of interest throughout the states. Though she would later enjoy a cruise and often travel with friends when Bill was no longer able to accompany her; she had her sites on Alaska.
Rosemary comes from a family that shares love and food on the same plate. Her Mother, Verna and her Mother-in-law, Joe Ashley, both could stir up a meal in minutes. It was tradition for the families to gather weekly for the Sunday meal. Rosemary definitely had their talent for cooking and Bill claims it was Joe who taught her so well. She treasured her family gatherings and her presence shall be sincerely missed.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Bill Ashley of the home. Danny and Denise Ashley of Bristow. Dale Ashley and Terre Smith of Aurora, Colorado; 3 Grandchildren: Amber and her husband, Terry Hall of Owasso. Levi Ashley of Evergreen, Colorado. Cassady Ashley and her husband, Adam Waite of Lompoc, California; 9 Great Grandchildren: Andrew and Bradley Waite of Lompoc, California. Bradley was born on his Grandmother Rosemary’s birthday. Logan, Landon, Sawyer, and Stetson Ashley of Evergreen, Colorado. Krystin Hall, Lilith Johnson, and Vivian Hall of Owasso; Brother, Bill and wife Hazel Stubblefield of Bristow. And many nieces and nephews. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers Cleve, Bob, Don, and Tommy Stubblefield; 4 Sisters Jackie McGuire, Betty Nichols, Peggy Phillips and Faye Stubblefield.
