At the age of 3, Emily moved with her family to Collinsville, OK and was 8 years old when her father died of the flu in 1918. Emily helped care for her 4 younger siblings while her mother worked to support the family.
Emily graduated from Collinsville High School in 1929 and Tulsa Business College in 1931. That same year she began working for the Tulsa Oil and Gas Journal and had the distinction of being their longest continuous employee with 45 years of service when retiring in 1976.
On July 29, 1942, she married Sg. Loren L. Boggs in Yuma, AZ. Sharing 52 years together before he passed away, they made their home in Tulsa, OK and later Sapulpa. Emily loved to travel, which took her to many sites across the U.S. and also to the U.S.S.R. where she visited her mother's birthplace in Ukraine.
Emily is survived by her sister; three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband and three brothers, Pete, Millard and John preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sapulpa, OK under direction of Smith Funeral Home, with burial following at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Smith Funeral Home.
