Ash called him POPPY (she mistakenly called him that when she was around 2. From then on, it was Granny & Poppy to her !!
Carl was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Enlistment Date: 15 Apr 1953; Release Date: 23 Mar 1955
A brother of the Masons, a retired ironworker, and a member of the Ironworkers Local 584.
He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, building custom bird feeders for family and friends with their last name on it. They enjoyed watching/feeding the birds in their yard, buying and reselling anything..cars, trucks, houses, campers and fishing in their pond.
Poppy and Louise were teenage sweethearts. Life happened.. the Army, she married, he married, kids were born to both, and they went on with their lives and raised their children. 24 yrs later they ran into each other, and married on Nov 18, 1977. They did some traveling with his job for a few years before he retired. They had 16 years together when he was diagnosed with cancer. He died within 5 months, peacefully, surrounded by his brothers & sisters and family at home.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Sterling Brewer and Tommy Brewer.
Carl was survived by his wife, Louise (Seaton) Brewer; 2 stepchildren, Rhonda and Don; 2 children, Donna and George "Butch"; 8 granchildren; 2 sisters, Mary "Sis" (Brewer) Sallee Graham (Ed) & Thelma (Brewer) Copeland (Nathaniel); 2 brothers, Wilburn "Bo" Brewer (Myrna) and Alvin "Brother" Brewer (Virginia) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as casketbearers were nephews, Kelly Copeland, Howard Copeland, Carl Dale Sallee, Billy Paul Sallee, Jimmy Wayne Sallee, Ronnie Sallee, Keith & Mike.
Funeral - April 6, 2pm Tuesday at Smith Funeral Chapel, Sapulpa, Oklahoma with the Rev. LeRoy Brummett officiating.
