American Burlesque Stripper. Doda, born Carol Anne Doda, was a well-known topless stripper who was active during the 1960s through the 1980s in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although not much is known about her early life, she claimed that she dropped out of school and became a waitress at the age of 14. While attending the San Francisco Art Institute, Doda received a job at the famed Condor Club in San Francisco as a waitress and lounge entertainer. She worked there until the 1980s dancing many popular dance moves on a piano that was lowered from the ceiling. On June 19, 1964 Doda performed topless at the club, becoming the first entertainer of the era to do so and five years later, she would perform bottomless until 1972 when it was banned in California clubs that served alcohol. She was so successful in her act that she had breasts enhancements done, going from a 34 to a 44. Doda was arrested several times and appeared in court, but was always cleared. In the late 1960s to the 1970s, she became the spokesmodel for independent television station Channel 36 in San Jose, California "The Perfect 36". She retired from stripping in the 1980s, but was still performing at different nightclubs as of 2009.
