Guy started his broadcasting career at
Tampas WDAE. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he was hired
at WALT as a sportscaster and did free-lance work announcing local sports for
ABC Radio. In 1953, he moved to television and joined WSUN-TV Channel 38 as
sports director. When Channel 13 signed on in April of 1955 he moved over to
WTVT for two years, and later spent a decade as sports director with WFLA-TV
Channel 8 from 1960 to 1970.
Throughout his career, Guy closed out each of
his sports reports with Remember, whether you win or lose, be a good sport.
Sadly, he took his own life on February 21, 1971, about six weeks after his 50th
birthday.
