Rita was the daughter of Vincenzo and Elisa (nee Scotti) Errico. She grew up in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. She married Joseph C. Bishelany in the late 1940s-early 1950s.

Her siblings were:

Theresa (b. 1914)
Concetta (b. 1915)
Annette (b. 1916)
Matthew, 1918-1991
Frank (b. 1920)
Anna (b. 1921)
Filomena (b. 1923)

Rita and Joseph moved to Florida. She remained a resident there after his passing in 2004. Upon her death, Rita's remains were brought back to New York. She is interred in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Note: Rita was the first cousin of my mother, Emily L. Serrapede. They lived close to each other on 65th Street during the 1930s and 1940s. Rita and my Mom were not only cousins but best friends. When Rita got married my Mother was her Maid of Honor. When Mom got married she asked Rita to be her Maid of Honor.
