In loving memory of Gerald Serrapede.

Gerald was born at 1:18 P.M. at Methodist Episcopal Hospital in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, N.Y. At the time of his birth, Gerald's parents and older sister were living on 65th Street, Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. The family was a member of St. Rosalia's Parish.

An "Our Baby" album created by Josie which has been handed down in the family states that Gerald was baptized at "St. Theresa's Parish at 4: 00 p.m. on April 3, 1938." A Baptimsal Certificate also exists and is placed in this album. The certificate bears the signature of Rev. A. Baffo who baptized Gerald on April 3, 1938 at the Church of St. Rosalia in Brooklyn.* The Godparents were Peter and Angelina Muro. On the baptismal certificate Gerald's name is entered as Gennaro even though his birth certificate has the name Gerald. Following the custom in Italian families of naming a child after an ancestor the name Gennaro was chosen in honor of his paternal Grandfather. The certificate also has the red seal of the Brooklyn Archdiocese.

The family lived in a cold water flat against the advice of family and friends. Gerald contracted Lobar Pneumonia in February, 1941 and passed away at Kings County Hospital on February 17, 1941.

The funeral service was held at Puccio & Walsh Funeral Home on Dean Street in Brooklyn followed by interrment at St. John's Cemetery on February 20, 1941.

*St. Theresa's Chapel was located at the site that is now Regina Pacis Church on 65th Street between 12th and 13th Avenues in Brooklyn. St. Rosalia, often called "The Mother Church" by the congregation, is still located on 14th Avenue near 63rd Street. The Parish is now called St. Rosalia-Regina Pacis Parish.
