Tillie Rosenbaum was born to Pincus and Mary Rosenbaum in Boryslaw, Galicia about June or July of 1883. In the early 20th century she emigrated to the United States and married Benjamin Flashenberg. The couple first made the Lower East Side of Manhattan their home. They then moved with their children to the Yorkville section of the city around 1919-1920, and from there to Brooklyn, N.Y.

Tillie's name on the Birth Records of Boryslaw at JRI-Poland is her Hebrew name, Tauba (or Taube). It means "Dove".

Her siblings were:

Hilda, b. abt. 1880 in Galicia. Died 14 Oct 1941 in New York, NY.

Tillie became a U.S. citizen in 1944. Sometime in the 1950s Tillie went to live at the Towers Nursing Home at 65 Hillside Avenue in New York City. She remained there until her passing on July 2, 1958.

A memorial service was held on July 3, 1950 at the Riverside Memorial Chapel in Manhattan with immediate burial afterwards at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
