Pvt Homer C. Buck was a soldier in Company E 180th Infantry Regiment 45th Infantry Division. He was killed in Scoglitti (Sicily) on 10 July 1943. Pvt Buck was first buried in a fieldgrave and reburied again in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in grave G-81-972.

Over 1,200 men and women were buried in the GELA Cemetery between July 1943 and 1947.

After the war Pvt Buck was buried in the Sicily Rome Cemetery (Nettuno in Italy) in grave A-5-18. I am writing a book about the GELA Cemetery and hope to finish it next year (2013).
