Attended Dartmouth College and recieved his A.B in 1892, his A.M. degree in 1894 and this his D. Sc. Degree in 1932. He also recieved his LL. B. From Western Reserve in 1895. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1894 and practiced in Cleveland until 1902 when ill health forced him to retire.
He married Lilian Converse Hanna on Feb 15 1898 in Thomas ville GA.
Since retirment, he devoted his time to banding birds a practice that has been adopted by the United States Biological Survey. He has writen many books on teh lives and methods of birds.
A trustee to the Cleveland Museam of Natural History.
