Patsy Ruth Fleming Cobb, age 83, of Lewisville, TX passed, away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born December 6, 1929 in Calera, OK, she was the 2nd eldest of 5 children born to Archie and Hayden Fleming. Survivors include her daughter, 2 grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 younger sisters, 1 brother-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Jo Scribner, brother Archie Lee Fleming, and sister-in-law Mary Fleming, as well as nieces and nephews who passed ahead of their time. Patsy graduated from North Texas State Teachers College in 1949 and taught in the public school system, beginning her career in Aransas Pass. She married a Coast Guard man and moved first to Alaska before settling in Oregon, where her only daughter was born. Patsy had a great love of children of all ages and taught elementary school for over 40 years. After retiring from teaching in the late 1980's, Patsy moved "HOME" to Texas to become a caretaker for her Mother in Lewisville and lived there until her passing. Patsy was a devout Christian and member of the First Baptist Church in Lewisville and served the Church in many capacities, such as teaching Sunday school and working in the Church nursery. She was also a proud member of MAGIC, the most active group in the church. Patsy was a two-time President of the local chapter of AARP and held too, her offices in the organization. She greatly enjoyed socializing and playing games at the Lewisville Senior Center. She dearly loved her daughter, grandkids, local family, and many friends. All who knew Patsy considered her to be a very special person. Patsy was committed to her Christian faith and looked forward to her forever after life but will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her. She considered the last few months she spent in rehabilitation at a nursing home a ministry, where she sought out and spent time with other residents who needed some of her strength and friendship.
