Teddy Gibbs, age 60, of Lewisville, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, at his home. He was born January 29, 1953 in Sherman, Texas to Billy Joe Gibbs and Wynona James Gibbs. Teddy married Kim Willits on August 2, 1980 in Sherman. Teddy was a member of East Sherman Baptist Church.

Teddy retired from the city of Lewisville in 2011 as Athletic Supervisor. He served as Athletic Supervisor for the city of Sherman prior to his arrival in 1986. He loved his involvement with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, Texas Amateur Softball Association and LISD Special Olympics His participation in TAAF included serving and chairing several committees on the state level and for Region 4, serving as representative to the National ASA Convention and volunteering over 20 years at the State Games of Texas. He twice received the President's Award and in 2011 was given a Lifetime Membership Award. Teddy served ASA as Deputy Commissioner for Districts 13 & 24, Commissioner and Umpire-in-chief for District 13, umpire and Umpire-in-chief at several State and National Tournaments and Area Vice-President on the State Executive Committee. In 1999 he was selected to the National Indicator Fraternity - one of the highest honors for an ASA umpire.

After retirement, Teddy spent time going to his grandkid's activities, playing in a weekly golf group, served as a game day usher for FC Dallas Soccer Club and volunteered as a greeter at the DFW Airport.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; two children; two grandchildren; his brother; and his father-in-law.
