DeForrest Basil "Skip" Bynum, Jr. was born on July 3, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas, the son of DeForrest B. Bynum and Helen Billie Reese Bynum. Skip attended Stonewall Jackson Elementary School and J. L. Long Middle School. He then attended Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated in 1963. According to his Facebook Page, he attended one year at the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH), then one year at SMU and another at Texas A&M. He was employed by Sears for 30 years in computers. Skip was an amateur radio operator, WD5AAZ, an active volunteer and served for over 30 years in a number of capacities with local clubs and organizations including the Dallas Amateur Radio Club, HAMCOM, Inc., SKYWARN, RACES and service groups dedicated to emergency communications. He was a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Club (QCWA) and the Amateur Radio Relay League, the Spring Creek Model Train Club and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in East Dallas, where he attended church, Bible Study and special events. His ham radio friends are hosting a Memorial on Thursday, April 3 2014, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Museum of Biblical Art, 7500 Park Lane, Dallas, Texas 75225. Ridgecrest Baptist Church will hold a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 5, 2014, 11:00 a.m.
