Ella Bates Johnson passed away on April 3, 2014 at the Linden Health Care Center in Linden, Texas. She was born to Sam and Edna Jones in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryal Bates; one son, Randy Don Bates, and two brothers, Art Jones and Jiggs Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll Johnson of Douglassville, Texas; one son, George Bates and wife Roxie of Douglassville, Texas; one daughter, Vivian Burns and husband Clarence of Linden, Texas; one sister, Lou Reddell; two brothers, Don Jones and Bill Jones. She is also survived by six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Ella was a member of Douglassville Baptist Church for many years. She loved her church and her church family.
