Charles Ray Atkins, age 88, of Lewisville, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Lewisville.
He was born March 24, 1926 in Bolivar, Texas to John Leslie Atkins and Grace Jewel Lambert Atkins. Ray served in the United States Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He married Dorothy Martin, of Denton, on January 29, 1949 in Lewisville. Ray was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewisville for 74 years, a 50+ year member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ray worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 36 years and retired from AT&T.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Donald Ray Atkins and wife, Connie, and David Lee Atkins and wife, Monica; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and sisters; Shirley Skeen, Francille Winnett and Linda Waddell.
