Richard Alexander Bigelow was born in Missouri to Granville and Sarah Wilhite Bigelow. He married Anna Herzog in 1906. Their first two children Lyuna and Richard were born in Oklahoma. The youngest, Cora, was born in Douglas, Arizona in 1917. They moved to Ajo in 1924 where Richard worked as a locomotive fireman and then as a machinist helper. About that time Lyuna married Leston Stewart. In 1928 Richard E. Bigelow graduated from Ajo High School. He married a widow Monnie Ray Butts. On February 28, 1935 an accident at the mine occurred causing Richard Alexander Bigelow to be crushed by an engine resulting in his death. A few months later Cora graduated from Ajo High School. Cora married Donald Cratty. Anna passed away in 1964. Richard Alexander and Anna Bigelow were laid to rest at the Ajo Cemetery. Their son Richard and daughter Lyuna were also laid to rest in Ajo. Cora passed away in Tucson, Arizona.
