Gordon Van Hendricks, Sr., 84, of 112 Michaels Street, Jarvisburg, NC, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Salt Lake City, UT, he was the son of the late George Edgar and Rosina Elizabeth Craig Hendricks and was the husband of Genevieve Brandenburg Hendricks of the home. Mr. Hendricks was retired from the U. S. Army and the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter; five sons; two brothers; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was Friday, September 7, 2012 with military honors rendered by VFW Post #6060 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elizabeth City, with President Don Drake officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
