Carla Rae Fulsom, 57, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 24, 2014 at her home.

Born November 17, 1956 in Cedar Vale, Kansas, she was the daughter of Carl Edwin and Bertha Gladys (Wolfe) Reeves. She was raised and received her education in Grenola, Kansas. She finished her senior year of high school at Cedar Vale High School, graduating in 1974. She then attended Ozark Bible College and Independence Junior College.

Carla was united in marriage to Perry Fulsom on July 9, 1976 in Grenola, Kansas. The couple made their home in Cedar Vale where Carla stayed home to raise their children. She later returned to school at Cowley County Community College and transferred to Southwestern College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. In the early 80’s, she started coaching volleyball in the Cedar Vale area. She began teaching fourth grade in Cedar Vale in 1992 and remained in the Cedar Vale school district as a teacher and coach for 21 years. Perry and Carla moved to Grenola in 2007.

Mrs. Fulsom was a lifetime member of the Grenola Christian Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and was very active in the women’s group. She also started and led the Cedar Vale Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She enjoyed watching Royals Baseball, KU basketball and spending time with her grandchildren. Above all her true passion was reading and studying the Bible and praying for her family.

Her son: Alex Fulsom and wife, Kacie of Derby;
Her mother: Bertha Reeves of Grenola;
Her brother: Fred Reeves and wife, Susan of Neodesha;
Her sisters: Karleen Smith and husband, Milo of Towanda; Joy Armstrong and husband, Rob of LaBelle, FL;
Her grandchildren: Presley Crotts, Jaxon Fulsom, Jaylee Crotts; and
Many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Carl Reeves and a daughter, Rachel Fulsom.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Cedar Vale High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow at Cedar Vale Cemetery. The family will greet visitors at the Grenola Christian Church on Tuesday evening, April 29, 2014 from 5 to 7 P.M. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established in Carla’s name for Kansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Cedar Vale Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
