Helen Endriss

Helen Endriss, 88, Leavenworth, went to her loving Lord with the dawning of the day on Saturday, Nov. 4 2006. she was born Helen Louise Wendel on April 30, 1918 to Christopher and Lena Wendel.
She began her life's journey with Jesus at her baptism on May 26, 1918, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Leavenworth, where she was also confirmed into the congregation on Marcy 20, 1932. Helen attended St. Paul Lutheran School through the eight grade and then Leavenworth public shoos through high school.
On Nov. 6, 1938, Helen married William Endriss and together they would travel through life for 42 years until his death on Dec. 31, 1980.
As wife and mother, Helen would go on to become a charter member of the Trinity Evangelical Luther Church, in Leavenworth and raise five children, Lena Mae (Lea) Crim (Bennie) of Leavenworth, William Jr., Gladstone, Mo., Helen Palmer, Leavenworth, Paul (Lisa), Deerfield, Fla., and Chris Leavenworth. she was a proud grandmother of eight; a great-grandmother of 10, and a great-great-grandmother of one.
Helen was an active member of the Women's bowling league at the U.W. Penitentiary for several years where she also would square dance with her many friends at the officers' club house, now the training facility.
In later years, Helen took up knitting with her favorite item to make being afghans. She was also active in LWML at Trinity. She was a member of the Dorcas League at Trinity making quilts to be donated to those in need.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Dorothy Raymond, and a niece Joloyce.
Helen is loved by her children and many people all wo=ho will miss her very much, including her best friend Snowball.
Visitation for the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 10th and Thornton, Leavenworth. Services will also be at the church at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.
Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Bell Fund, or donor's choice.
