ARTHUR H. ASBURY

"Arthur H. Asbury, Leavenworth, a former recreational worker at the VA Center, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1993, at Cushing hospital. He was 83.

He was born Jan. 6, 1910, in Buchanan County, Mo., the son of Christopher Columbus "Lum" and Elsie Jeanette Ogden Asbury. He worked in the recreation department at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 32 years before retiring.

He was a member of the National Campers and Hikers, the Pioneer Camping Club, and a member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 10 AF & AM.

He married Edna L. Korth on Aug. 29, 1929, in Leavenworth.
She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Janice Calvacca, New City, N.Y.; a son (Ret.) Col Francis L. Asbury, Niceville, Fla.; a sister, Opal Fevurly, Leavenworth; a brother Frank Asbury, Easton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers.

The burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
