Oliver was the son of Joseph F. & Ruth M. Penn) Abington.
His siblings were:
Keziah Ann (1827 – 1876)
Catherine E. (1830 – 1910)
Fanny (1833 – 1856)
George M. (1837 – 1920)
William P. (1839 – 1920)
There is a question about Oliver's middle name. Was it Perry or was it Penn, his mother's maiden name. Lindsey, his gg-grandson, has his death certificate, which shows his name as Oliver Perry, his pocket watch, which also shows his name Oliver Perry, & his marriage record to Jane A. Hughes (Lindsey's gg-grandmother), which shows his name is Oliver Perry
Oliver married Jane A. Hughes in Vernon, Nevada Co, MO on March 12, 1860.
Their children were:
Joseph Y. (1861 – 1888)
Thomas Hughes (1864 – 1949)
George Oliver (1865 – 1943)
Edward Lee (1867 – 1955)
Fanny (1869 – 1873)
Virgil (1874 – 1897)
Harry (1876 - 1899)
On July 10, 1860, within four months after they were married, Oliver & Jane were living on a farm in Cuivre, St. Charles Co, MO. Their post office was Wentzville. Oliver was 29 years old, & Jane was 21. They owned real estate valued at $1600 and personal wealth valued at $600. Oliver's brothers, George, age 23, (a farmer $1600 - $400), & William, age 20, (a laborer $800 - 300) lived with them. Two other men, Alfred Fanning & Wm. Mense were also part of the household.
They apparently were living on the same farm on Aug. 21, 1870. Oliver was 39, & Jane was 30. She had given birth to:
Joseph (7)
Thomas (6)
George (4)
Edward (3)
Fannie (1)
Oliver's brother, George, age 28, was still living with them.
Their daughter, Fannie, died in 1873. Jane gave birth to two more children, Virgil in 1874 & Harry in 1876. Jane died in 1876, possibly during childbirth or shortly thereafter. Joseph died in 1888. Jane, Virgil, & Joseph are buried on the farm.

Oliver's second marriage was to Nina B. Wood in St. Charles Co, MO on Jan. 14, 1880. They had a son, Carl C. born on Mar. 15, 1886/1887.
On June 19, 1880, Oliver & Nina lived in Doniphan, Ripley Co, MO. Oliver, who worked as a miller, was 48 & Nina was 30. Oliver's three sons from his previous marriage were with them: George (14), Virgil (6), & Harry, 4. Albert J. Green, a minister, age 26, lived with them.
Some time later the family moved to Poplar Bluff, Butler Co, MO.
Nina died in 1892.
