William Henry Ahrendt was the son of William John Ahrendt and Mary Louise Rose. He was named for his grandfather who emigrated from Prussia to Chicago, IL, Wilhelm Heinrich Ahrendt or 'William Henry Ahrendt' as he became in America.

When he applied for a social security card March 1, 1937 he stated he was living at the Dome Hotel in Ocean Park, CA. employed at the Peer Inn in Ocean Park, CA. He would have been 36 yrs old. His death certificate said he was a caretaker for 35 years for the King Brothers Cattle Company Ranching. He died in the Lompoc Hospital and it stated he had been in the county of his death for two years and California for 50 years. Place of residence at death was given as Rt 1, Box 3 (San Julian Ranch which is now Rancho San Julian) Lompoc, CA. This is an old working family ranch where hundreds of cattle roam 13,000 acres, fruits and vegetables are raised, and they have extensive honeybee colonies. They are now placed in ‘agricultural preserve' status and serve as a refuge for a variety of local wildlife. Cause of death was cardiac arrest and cancer of the prostrate. The informant on the death certificate was his son William H Ahrendt Jr living at the time at 671 Mitchell Dr., San Luis Obispo, CA. Los Osos Crematory was the final resting place.
