Vi was one of five children born to Kelsey and Helen (Isham) Thorne. She graduated from San Luis Obispo High School about 1940. She married Richard Bullock Sr., and was the loving mother of Richard Nathaniel Bullock, Jr. and Randal Lee Bullock, and grandmother of Noah, Kamian, Ryan and Johnathan. She worked many years for Lenore Smith's, an upscale women's apparel store. After leaving there, she struck out on her own and opened a women's clothing store in Arroyo Grande, California. Many of her customers had followed her when she started her own business, but the partnership she went into with Karl Kundert, a local opthamologist, and his wife was not successful. She then went to work for California State Polytechnic University in maintenance and found she loved the work. After retiring, she lived many years in the house on Orcutt Road at the foot of Laurel Lane in San Luis Obispo.
