Obituary:

Lamont Ericson M.D. 1964 ~ 2007 Dr. Lamont Ericson, beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend was called home into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on a beautiful Sabbath morning, May 6, 2007, after fighting a valiant and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. All who knew and loved Lamont will celebrate the life of a great man and physician. He was a man of many gifts and talents that he freely gave including compassion, intellect, insight, selflessness, and his love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lamont was born in Ogden, UT on April 13, 1964 to Barbara Manning Ericson and Louis Marshall Ericson. He married his eternal companion and loving bride, Deborah Watkins, in the Bountiful Utah LDS Temple on September 28, 2000. They have two beautiful children, Aspen Raye (4) and Marshall Dain (1 1/2), who were loved and adored by their father. Lamont had a great love for his family; brother Steven (Shellie) Ericson, and sisters Diane (Mark) Avery, Louise (Jeff) Jacobs, Marsha (Dave) Abel, Norene (John) Marvets, and twin Laurie (Kevin) McColm. Lamont was preceded in death by his beautiful and loving mother, Barbara. The world was truly his home as he spent many of his formative years in Germany, graduated from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, served an honorable LDS Mission in Osaka, Japan and called many US states home including: Kansas, Georgia, Colorado, California, Hawaii, and Utah. Lamont loved to travel, appreciated fine cuisine, cultivated exotic plants and herbs, and continually challenged his own intellect (thus explaining his perfect score on the SAT exam). He spent the last two years in a frigid garage with his beloved father restoring a 1964 Jaguar automobile to mint condition. Professionally, Dr. Ericson was a gifted surgeon who practiced ophthalmology at the Mountain View Eye Center in Layton, Utah with his good friends and colleagues Dr. Robert Treft and Dr. Nolan Jepsen, since 1996. Previously, he was Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at the University of California San Diego College of Medicine, supervising resident at the Veterans Hospital, Shiley Eye Center, Thornton Hospital and UCSD Inner City Medical Center. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah College of Medicine in 1992 and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Ericson earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University where he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship. Lamont, To know you is to love you and we do and always will. In lieu of flowers, thank you for supporting Dr. Stephen Anthony's team at Scottsdale Health Care - TGEN Clinical Research Services (480-323-1350) or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, "PanCan" (877-272-6226). Funeral services for Lamont will be held Sat., May 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mueller Park LDS Stake Center Chapel, 1800 East Mueller Park Road, Bountiful, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Mueller Park Stake Center and at an additional viewing at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will take place at the Lake View Memorial Estates, 1700 E. Lake View Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral Directors - Warenski Funeral Home of American Fork, UT.
