William Noel "Bill" Fehlings, 77, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away at home Tuesday, December 1, 2009, while surrounded by his family.

Bill was born in Pasadena, CA, on December 17, 1931, to Ernest and Esther Fehlings.

In 1951, during the Korean War, Bill voluntarily joined the U.S. Army’s 38th Field Artillery Battalion. Eleven months later, he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.

In 1955, Bill began working at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for 36 years until he retired in 1991. Between 1953-2006, Bill was married and divorced four times, and was blessed with a daughter, two sons, and two stepdaughters.
After retiring from JPL, Bill moved to North Idaho with his wife, Wendy, son, Michael, and stepdaughter, Natalie. In 1996, he and his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Bill was best known for his wonderful sense of humor. He was always the life of the party and was very well liked. Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, bird hunting, fishing in Mexico, target shooting at the range, and watching football.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved grandmother, Clara Fehlings, in 1964, and both of his parents in 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Vicky Hill of Chipley, FL; sons: Billy Fehlings of Las Vegas, NV and Michael Fehlings of Coeur d’Alene, ID, stepdaughters: Natalie Langford of Hayden, ID and Susan Tibbitts of Salt Lake City, UT, ex-wife and companion, Wendy Fehlings of Coeur d’Alene, ID, his brother, Donald Fehlings, of Renton, WA, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Upon his request, no formal services will be held. Instead, the family will be hosting a "celebration of life" party.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Auburn Crest Hospice and your amazing staff. Bill truly loved each of you with all of his heart. You treated him with dignity and love and that will never be forgotten.
