Obituary from the Weston Independent January 24, 1940: Albert L. Alkire, 79, died at family home at Hettie, Braxton County, Thursday evening. Interment in Green Hill Union Church Cemetery. Born 23 August, 1860 at Red Lick, Lewis County. Son of John and Matilda Sprigg Alkire. Married Margaret Mealey of Lewis County who survives with children: Alva Alkire and Ella Kitsmiller of Hettie; brother John Alkire-Rosedale; sister Mary Heavner-Pickens and Amanda Taylor-Cincinnati, OH.
