Emogene Elizabeth Lax Braun, 78, of Georgetown died Friday, November 20, 2009 at home. Visitation will be at The Gabriels in Georgetown on Sunday, November 22 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg. Pastor Rusty Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Peter Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Alan Kirkpatrick, Shawn Kirkpatrick, Jennifer Gaswint, Jamie Haselhorst, Dani Braun, Amanda Braun, Jordan Braun, Walker Briggs, and Peyton Briggs. Honorary pallbearer is Jaime Orf.
Mrs. Braun was born February 17, 1931 in Taylor to Carl and Edith Lax Johnson. She married Charles Braun on June 2, 1949 at Brushy Free Church in Georgetown. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Braun worked in the dietician department of the Wesleyan Nursing Home. She retired after 25 years and then went back to work part-time for 15 additional years. She was very proud of her 40 year service there. She was also a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Braun and her five children: Pam Cox and husband Hugh of Cedar Park; Wayne Braun and wife Donna of Georgetown; Peggy Braun and Joey Briggs of Jarrell; Patrick Braun and wife Tammy of Brenham and Karla Braun of Georgetown; her ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials in her memory may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg in lieu of flowers.
