Chris Doerfler, 92, of Georgetown, Texas passed away with his family at his side, Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Granger, Texas. He was born March 17, 1918 in Granger, Texas to Dan and Emma (Braun) Doerfler. Chris was a lifelong Farmer and Rancher of Williamson County and an Army Veteran of WWII.
On September 12, 1956, Chris married the former Gladys (Riske) Doerfler. Together they were active members of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas where he served on the Church Council, cemetery committee, as an Elder and usher. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Doerfler is survived by his wife, Gladys Doerfler of Georgetown; son, Mike Doerfler of Georgetown; daughter, Patricia Teinert and husband Kenneth of Georgetown; son, Randy Merkord and wife Shirley of Georgetown; daughter-in-law, Judy Merkord of Georgetown; brother, Walter Doerfler of Georgetown; grandchildren, Sheri Leonard of Kyle, Tx., Susan Wilson and husband Mark of Taylor, Tx., Justin Merkord and wife Laina of Georgetown, Melissa Merkord and Bill Bannon of Weir, Tx., Spencer Merkord and wife Natalie of Grapevine, Tx., Jacob Merkord of New Orleans, La.; great grandchildren, Abbie Leonard of Kyle, Tx, Andrew, Claudia, and Molly Wilson of Taylor, Tx and Ashton Merkord, Ryan Deveau of Georgetown. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother, four sisters, and two sons, Ronnie Doerfler and Allen Merkord.
Serving as pallbearers are Milton Wolbrueck, Earnest Kimbro, Spencer Merkord, Justin Merkord, Ricky Schwausch, and Ron Wolbrueck.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Ramsey Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas with Pastor Rusty Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg or the charity of your choice.
