When Paul arrived in Vietnam 6 December 1967, he was assigned to Bravo Company, 3rd Recon, 3rd Marine Division. Paul went out on a recon patrol with India Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. India Company was in the vicinity of Hill 881N and 7 kilometers west northwest of Khe Sanh, when the Marines were engaged by hostile forces. Paul was wounded
during the intense fighting and was medevac to a Station Hospital NSA in Danang where he died 21 January of multiple fragmentation wounds to the head and body from a hostile explosive sustained 20 January, during Operation Scotland.
Paul had been in Vietnam for 45 days when he died.
Survived by his parents, Paul M and Anna A Beddoe Sr of Route #4, Box 466A, Medford, Oregon.
