Mary Margaret (Crowley) Burke, 87 years of age, entered Life Eternal at Southeastern Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Easton, Thursday March 29, 2012 after a period of declining health. She was born in Boston July 4, 1924. She was raised in Jamaica Plain and was a 55 year resident of Avon. She received her education in Boston Parochial Schools. Mary tried to enlist in the WACS during World War II, but did not make the weight requirement of 100 lbs. She worked as a civilian making field radios for the Department of Defense. She had worked for K9 Specialties in Brockton as a seamstress, making a variety of dog collars and accessories. She retired after 30 years at the age of 82. She was a longtime communicant of St. Michaels Church of Avon. Mary enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was known as the strength of her family. Family was the most important part of her life, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Mary was the loving wife of the late William F. Burke, who died in 2009. She was the devoted mother of William M. Burke married to Patricia Burke of Marshfield, Patrick J. Burke of Bridgewater and Ellen M. (Burke) White married to Mark White of Wrentham. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late John Crowley. A period of visitation will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck- Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree, Monday, April 2 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a Catholic prayer service at 11 a.m. The Reverend Father James McCarthy, pastor of the Church of St. Thomas More, Braintree will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marys memory may be sent to Hospice Services of Massachusetts, 577 Main St., Wareham, MA 02571. www.peckservices.com
