MSGT Jack Eugene Lydic, 79, a 23 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force passed away peacefully at his home with his son, Terry, at his side on Monday, October 20, 2014. Jack was born in 1935 in Cody, Wyoming to Charles T. and Mary L. Lydic. He was the eldest of 7 children. At the age of 11 he moved with his family to Washington State where he lived until he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953.

During his service he was stationed at Lackland AFB in Texas, as well as bases in Okinawa, Arizona, Tennessee and Labrador, Canada.

While he was stationed in Arizona, he met and married Shirley Ann Bradshaw on August 1, 1958. They had 3 children.

In 1980, after his Air Force retirement he made his home near his extended family in Harrisburg. For a short period he lived in McMinnville, where he worked for Evergreen Aviation.

Jack loved playing pinochle, musical instruments with his family, vintage cars, motorcycles, leather tooling, fishing, and dancing.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley; a grandson, Timothy Lydic and his father, Charles T. Lydic.

Survivors include: his sons, Terry, Harrisburg; Richard, Arizona; daughter Debra Israel, California. 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Lydic, Harrisburg; brothers: Don Lydic, Georgia; Richard Lydic, Harrisburg; sisters: Thelma Whatley, Washington State; Shirley Brinkman, Arizona; Alice Ripke, Junction City; Diane Evans, Harrisburg; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
