Gene “G.E.” Ball, age 65, of Mosheim, passed away Friday evening (April 24, 2015) at his home.

He was a retired fence builder.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years: Erma Ball; children: Bethany Ball and Jonathan Howland of Mosheim, Stacie and Robert Taylor of Greeneville, April and Josh Covington of Greeneville, David Ball and Jodi Turner of Hawkins County, Danny Ball and Lorraine Cowhy of Greeneville, and Eddie Ball of Rogersville; mother: Clarine Ball of Limestone; brothers and sisters: Walter and Sue Ball, Phyllis and Don Burleson, Robert Ball, Sandy and Clay Rogers, Kenny and Angie Ball all of the Dotsontown Community, and Debbie and Robert Jones of Limestone; grandchildren: Jordon Ball, Chris Ball, John Ball, Brandon Ball, Jacob Ball, Kelsey Ball, DJ Ball, Hunter Ball, Madison Taylor, Draven Taylor, Noah Covington and Seth Covington; a great-grandson: Christopher Ball; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Billy Hicks, Frances Smelcer, Odell and Dorothy Hicks, Charles “Phil” and Juanita Hicks, Dock Hicks, Linda and Dennis Standifer, Glenda and Junior Gilland, Debbie and Charlie Brown, Lois Ison, Doug Cruey, Robert Starnes, Polly Hicks, and Mary Hicks; special friends: Pat and Michelle Hankins, Jeanne and Dylan Milstedd, John Waddle, Trampus and Allison Shirey, Weldon and Elaine Shirey, Dan and Ashley Wirt, Walt Brumitt, Little Buddy “Rosco”, Jim and Gail Thompson, and Rhonda Davis; several nieces and nephews; a special great-nephew: Gavyn Harris.

He was preceded in death by his father: Carl Ball; nephew: Robbie Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Carl and Nancy Hicks; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Alma and Robert Rader, Mable Starnes, Wayne Hicks, and Delmer Hicks.

At his request, there will be no visitation.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Brown Springs Cemetery, Mosheim. The Rev. Sid Barkley will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Dan Wirt, Mikey Stewart, Pat Hankins, David Ball, Jordon Ball, John Ball, Jim Thompson, and Walt Brumitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of UT Medical Center Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Michelle Dilks and staff.
