Born in Branchdale, Sept. 2, 1928, Mary was a daughter of the late Michael C. Schlitzer and Helen T. Reilly Schlitzer.
She was a 1945 graduate of the former Reilly Township High School. She was employed as a blind stitcher for the majority of her 45-year career in the former Honey Bee Blouse Company in Branchdale. She was also the union secretary during her employment there.
Since her retirement in 1990, she led a very active life and was involved in many different organizations.
Mary was president of the Ladies Booster Club in Branchdale for more than 20 years, a charter member, trustee and treasurer of the Minersville Senior Citizens for most of her retirement years, and was involved for many years organizing block party picnics in Branchdale.
She loved to travel and was in charge of organizing trips for the Minersville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sports and was an avid Phillies Fan. She loved crocheting and enjoyed making special pieces for family members. Reading was a favorite pastime and also playing cards with her friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Joseph Foyle, on Nov. 21, 1986. She was also preceded by her siblings, Bernadette T. Valosin and Joseph M. Schlitzer.
Surviving are Mary's two beloved daughters, Joanne Marie Bingaman, Branchdale, and her fiance, Ferris Dissinger, Deturksville, and Michele Sinko Vogelsong and her husband, David, Harrisburg; two grandsons, Joseph Bingaman and his wife, Cheryl, Branchdale, and Ronald Craig Sinko and his wife, Tami, Stow, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Devin and Brad Bingaman, Branchdale, Cameron, Brooke and Meadow Sinko, Stow, Ohio; a very close nephew, who was like a son, Michael Valosin, Branchdale.
Friends were invited to call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St., Minersville. Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Church, State Road, Branchdale.
