GOFFER, Donald Richard Mr. Donald Richard Goffer, age 93 of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. He was born to John and Elsie (Foley) Goffer on March 23, 1922 in Scranton, PA. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and then retired from the United States Air Force reserves after many years of service. He worked for GE for 46 years in the motor division. In his free time he enjoyed golf and aviation. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at his home in Florida for many years. Donald is survived by his children, Janna (Scott) Chesser, Philip J. (Kathleen) Goffer, Richard D. (Sally) Goffer; grandchildren, Elyse Chesser, Alyssa Goffer, Michael Goffer, Sarah Goffer, and William Goffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 57 years Dorothy on January 30, 2015; brother, John Goffer; and sister, Rosalie Goffer. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, December 4, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4351 Parnell Ave NE, Ada, MI 49301. There will be a time of visitation with the family one hour prior to Mass at church. The Interment is pending at Arlington National Cemetery. Those wishing to offer gifts of sympathy may consider the St. Patrick School Education Fund, 4351 Parnell Ave NE, Ada, MI 49301.
