Barbara Dee Black, 75, of Elkhart, Kansas passed away Saturday morning, November 28, 2015 at McAlester Regional Hospital in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was born in Wheeler, Texas to Carl and Opal Henderson. Two years later she was blessed with twin sisters, Eloise (Henderson) Smith and Elaine (Henderson) Pattie.
Barbara married Douglas Leon Black on March 6, 1959 in Pampa, Texas, where they made their home. They had four children, their first J'Non, then J'Neen, then Bryant Douglas. In 1969, they relocated to Elkhart, Kansas, and their fourth child, Jo'Dee was born. Barbara had always been a homemaker until she secured employment at Bultmans Inc. in Elkhart. In 1980, Barbara began her 30 year career at Morton County Hospital in medical records.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Leon Black, her parents, grandparents, and sister Elaine Pattie.
Survivors include one son, Bryant Black of Elkhart, KS; three daughters: J'Non and husband, Rocky Bultman of Elkhart, KS, J'Neen and husband, Rick Emmert of Streetman, TX, and Jo'Dee and husband, Mark Hollen of McAlester, OK. Survivors also include one sister, Eloise Smith of Dumas, TX, three granddaughters: Micha and her husband, Joel Aranda of Woodward, OK, Jaiha and her husband, Scott Wilson of Tyler, TX, and Ja'Lee Hollen of McAlester, OK. Three grandsons include: Lance Bultman of Elkhart, KS, Jace Emmert of Fairfield, TX, and Jaylan Hollen of Ohio, and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning, December 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Elkhart Church of God, 306 Morton Street in Elkhart, Kansas with Rev. Randy Land officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkhart Cemetery.
