Michael played professional soccer for many years in England, but after suffering a career ending injury during an exhibition match, he went back to school to obtain a mechanical engineering degree. He was later moved to Montreal, Canada for a design engineering position with Pratt and Whitney, where he married Barbara and the couple's son Andrew James was born. He then transferred to Skaneateles, New York where daughter, Amanda Claire, was born. The whole family was then moved to his permanent home in Waycross Georgia, where he worked for the Scapa Company.
Michael was very social in the Waycross community and greatly enjoyed playing golf at the Okefenokee Country Club. He then took the position of President for Voith in Pine Bluff, Arkansas however kept his family and permanent home in Waycross. He commuted from Waycross to Arkansas until his eventual retirement. He spent the remainder of his days travelling, spending time with family and friends, and working on Barbra's beloved garden at the home they made in Waycross. Additionally, his passion for Formula 1 racing and professional sports such as soccer, golf, and hockey kept him well entertained in his down time.
Michael lived a full, happy, and healthy life. He wishes that instead of family and friends being saddened by his passing, they remember him fondly and take comfort and joy in the memories that they shared together.
The family will receive friends on Friday August 12, 2016 from 5-7 p.m., at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home in Waycross, Georgia.
