She was born July 4, 1927 at her grandmother's home in Wayne County, Illinois to Taylor and Velva Pennington.
Thelma and Robert Charles Hallam were married Aug. 2, 1945 in Poplar Bluff, Misouri and lived in several towns in southern Illinois before settling and raising their family of four children in Albion, Illinois, before being transferred to LaCrosse, Kansas in 1965.
Following his passing in 1983, she relocated to Rogers.
While the children were young and living at home, Thelma worked as a homemaker. As the children grew, she stepped out of the home and into the work force, she held a variety of positions and trades.
Throughout her years, she worked in the offices of the Country Treasurer, a waitress, in dress shops, and owned her own self storage business.
As Thelma's roles changed her name did too. In high school her friends called her Penni. As a wife, Robert called her Thelma, and to the children she was always Momma. Gee Gee, as Penni, dubbed her at a young age, became the name that she grew to love and fit and so well. Gee Gee may have started as a good, laugh but this was the name all her grandkids and close family a friends came to affectionately call her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and eldest son, Robert Taylor Hallam.
Gee Gee is survived by her longtime companion and friend, Lee Gibbs of Lowell; her daughters, Linda Hacker (and husband, Joe), of Lowell; and Carolyn Northcott (and husband, Tony), of Siloam Springs; and her son, Thomas Hallam, of Farmington; eleven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2016.
