James V. "Jim" Childers, 81, of Satsuma, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.
He was born June 6, 1936, in Thelma, Ky., to the late John and Eunice Childers. He was a knife collector, an avid fisherman and a devoted family man. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 630 in West Palm Beach for 55 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during wartime. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Welaka, where he was active as long as he was able.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Doris Raye Childers.
He is survived by sons, James Childers Jr. (Denise) of Welaka and John Kipling Childers of Orlando; daughters, Cheryl Sexton of satsuma and Sandra Gleason of Cleveland; brother, John Childers (Helga) of Tennessee; and grandchildren, John and James Childers, Audrey and Roger Gleason and Elijah and Bryce Byrd.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, Aug. 24 at Welaka First Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Holland officiating.
