The Williamson Shingle Mill was located in Williamsonville during the Peshtigo Fire. He was identified by men from surrounding townships and buried in a temporary grave at the site of the mill. A list was kept of the grave numbers with names and ages. Most of the victims are still buried at the site as the whole area was burned over and no one had the means to re-inter victims in cemeteries. The Tornado Park is the burial site where the mill once stood. A total of 57 people died at the mill. John was buried in grave No. 28 and was age 18. His brother Frank was buried in No. 36 and was 15 years old. Frank was reintered at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. No record presently exists to indicate if James was interred there.
