J.C. "Jake", 91, of Howell, passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 17, 2014. He was born in Genoa Township, the son of George and Andrea (Nielsen) Haller.

A lifelong area resident and 1940 graduate of Howell High School, Jake was also a proud WWII Army veteran. He was a retired service technician for Consumers Power, member of the First United Methodist Church in Howell, lifetime member of the Howell Elks Club and enjoyed bowling, golf and playing cards.

Beloved husband of Sybil (Heeg) Haller whom he married in Howell on September 26, 1942. Loving father of Janet (Myrlen) Ivey-Geer of Howell, Sandra (Dennis) Aldrich of Redford, Connie (Dale) Borst of Brighton, and "daughter-in-love", Lisa Carden. Also survived by six grandchildren, Jill (George) Conkey, Jay (Angela) Ivey, Christine (Nathan) Hathaway, Kelly (Tom) Spangler, Stacy (Chris) Thurman, Heather Borst and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lawrence, Louise, Marie and Mae.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at MacDonald's Funeral Home, Howell.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Howell or Residential Hospice.
