Mr. David Lee Sawdey, 69, of Fountain, died Friday, July 20 at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington. David was born on Jan. 17, 1938 in Battle Creek to Glessner and Myrtle (Raymond) Sawdey, and graduated high school in Battle Creek. He served his country with the Army, stationed in Germany following the Korean Conflict, and married Barbara Blancett in 1964. They celebrated 40 years together before Barbara preceded him in death on July 25, 2004.?

David and Barbara lived in Coldwater, where he worked 30 years for the Evans Corporation as a machinist before retiring in 1998 and moving to Tallman Lake to care for his mother.?David enjoyed deer hunting, listening to jazz, and spending time as a cabinet maker.?

He will be remembered by his son Bradley and his fianc?e Jody Lynn Yerian of Evart; his grandchildren Derrick Teft of Hastings, Ashley Sawdey of Goshen, Ind. and Natalie Lynne Sawdey of Branch; his brother, Roger Dale (Caroline) Sawdey; his sister, Karen (Lonnie) Lawyer all of Battle Creek; and several nieces and nephews.?

Funeral services will be held for David at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, with the Rev. Timothy Yankee of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bachelor Cemetery in Fountain. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements are being cared for by the Wyman Funeral and Cremation Services - Stephens Funeral Home.
