Lottie was born May 3, 1920, in Goodwater, OK, to Elbert and Zonie (Plunk) Jackson. She loved her family, and, as one of 9 siblings, had strong family ties.
Lottie married James (Jim) E. Matherly May 29, 1937, in DeQueen, Arkansas. They were blessed with two sons. The family moved out west in 1942, living the next 40 years in California and Arizona. After Jim retired, he and Lottie moved to Mountain Home in 1982. They were charter members of Twin Lakes Baptist Church. From 2006, Lottie lived with her older son and his wife in Lynchburg. Growing up on a farm during the Depression, she learned how to work hard and how to manage. Throughout her life, Lottie never wanted to be a bother to anyone and always tried to take care of herself. Her high standards and values live on in her family. In addition to spending time with her family, Lottie loved working outside in her garden, yard and flower beds, canning, sewing, crocheting, quilting, crafts, and baking (her specialty was German Chocolate cake). She also enjoyed her years teaching the Beginners in Sunday School.
Lottie is survived by her sons, James (Geneva) of Lynchburg, Virginia and Wayne (Marie) of Henderson, Nevada; four granddaughters, Peggy Krider, Wendy Robinson, Gina Hawkins, and Jamie Kalafatich; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Rachel Fraser of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Christine Fitzgerald of El Sobrante, California; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and her grandsons, Bradley and Bryan.
