Pamela Anne Jaeger, 23, of Shamokin, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, from respiratory failure after a long battle with asthma.
She was born in Freehold, N.J., and moved to Shamokin as an infant. Her childhood was spent on Lower Road in East Cameron Township, where she loved the forests, fields, streams, wildlife and family pets, including two horses.
Pam attended Queen of Peace preschool, Transfiguration primary school and Shamokin Area Middle and High schools, where she excelled in academics as well as musical performance. A talented vocalist and self-taught guitarist, she loved singing for a live audience. In high school, she sang in the choir and had solo roles in musical theater productions of "Seussical" and "The Wiz." She competed in Shamokin Idol three times, and was the lead singer of the rock band Kandosii for three years.
More recently, Pam wrote and sang original pieces for her solo act at music festivals, clubs and on her YouTube channel. During the process, she mastered complex guitar techniques and teamed with musicians around the globe via SoundCloud.com/pamjaeger91 to record original collaborations.
Throughout high school and later, Pam worked with her father at Jaeger's Beverage, and recently at Weis Markets. In 2013, she graduated summa cum laude from McCann School of Business as a certified surgical technologist and interned at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Pam was a daughter of Thomas A. Jaeger, of Shamokin, and Katherine Miller de Silva, of Williamsport; a granddaughter of Carl and Margaret Jaeger, of Linden, N.J., and Anne and George Moller, of Lock Haven.
Surviving are her grandmother, Marge; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Garett Stahl, of Northumberland; her brother, Frederick Jaeger, of Shamokin; her stepfather, Santu de Silva, of Williamsport; her stepsister, Uma de Silva, of Tucson, Ariz.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
She also is survived by her steadfast life partner of five years, Brandon Weikel, of Shamokin, and her beloved pets Jackathor, Bigfoot and Kratos.
In the words of her loving family and many friends who posted Facebook condolences, Pam "didn't let things or people hold her back. ... She was free spirited ... inspiring ... down to Earth ... kind ... selfless ... hard working ... creative ... and most often, funny.
"Her energetic personality would brighten any dark day. ... She was a beautiful soul with a voice to match. ... From the time she was little, we knew she would shine brighter than many, and she has."
JAEGER — Pamela A. Jaeger, 23, of Shamokin. A funeral service was held at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township, with Pastor Richard Earl of Mountainside Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial was held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
