Harry Hipwell was survived by his wife Mary; a daughter, Rosemary Tompson of Vernon; sons Jack in Castlegar; Bill in Sardis; and Dick, in Prince George.
He was also survived by a sister, Mary Friend, in Berkeley, California.
Mary Lillian Hipwell died on September 21, 1985, six days before the twentieth anniversary of the death of her husband.
When his funeral was held in St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, the active pallbearers were Les Eyres, Charles Newby, Mayor T.T. McCammon, Bob Boyd, and Vic Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Dick Linzey, Frank Stanford, A.I. Andrews, Fred Leary, W.L. Macken, R.L. Ramsay, Gordon Harding, and Dr. George Roberts.
Reverend Maxwell Cooper officiated at the funeral and the burial was in the family plot in the Anglican Cemetery on Little Mountain.
