MULLINS - Mr. Ferney Cantey Cook, Jr., 89, widower of Dorothy "Dot" Meggs Cook, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at his daughter and son-in-laws home after a short illness.

Mr. Cook was born July 25, 1925 in Marion County, a son of the late Cantey and Eugenia Coleman Cook. He was a carpenter, having built his daughter and son-in-laws home and a construction worker, retiring from Willis Construction Co. Mr. Cook was a member of Ariel Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Cook are his daughter and Son-in-Law, Ellen Cook (Mason) Gasque of Mullins; and a brother, Frank Cook and his wife Dot of Mullins.

Mr. Cook was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Meggs Cook; a son, Ferney Cantey Cook, III; a sister, Margaret Cook Howle and a brother and sister-in-law, Hayward and Jackie Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Ariel Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Wall and Rev. Stephen E. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
