Mary Lou Shoff

Mary Lou Shoff, age 57, a longtime Dewey, Okla., resident, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, in Ponca City after extended health problems.

In April 2011, she moved to Ponca City to live closer to her sister in an apartment she loved. There were several stays at Ponca City Nursing Home during that time but her attitude stayed positive and her personality gained her popularity with staff and other patients there.

Mary Lou Brown was born on Aug. 4, 1957, in Bartlesville. She was the daughter of Jay and V. Louise Brown.

She grew up and attended school in Dewey and graduated from Dewey High School in 1975. She loved being a “Bulldogger”!

She married Brian M. Shoff on April 30, 1983. They had one daughter, Keri Christine Shoff.

One of Mary’s favorite activities began when Keri (also a Bulldogger) played softball both for the Dewey Bulldoggers and the Bartlesville Blazers.

She loved to travel to games, spend nights out of town with the team and root for them from the stands. She was also a longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Shortly after high school, she opened and operated “The Beauty Cottage” in Dewey for 20 years. Many happy memories came from her customers.

Later in life, she was doubly blessed by granddaughters, Emilee Anne Shoff and Taylor Jae Shoff. No matter what life’s circumstances, she loved her girls and Brian.

Her nieces and nephews testify to how she always made each and every one of them feel special.

Her last day was a happy one. She was wearing her favorite Chiefs sweatshirt and was surrounded by her “girls” – daughter Keri, granddaughters Emilee and Taylor and her dog LuLu while gathered on her sister’s patio enjoying burgers and a birthday cake for 3 year old Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Brian.

She is survived by her daughter, Keri C. Shoff and partner, Tonilynn; two grandchildren, Emilee Shoff and Taylor Shoff, all of Bartlesville;

her sister, Karen Mason and her husband, Dewayne, of Ponca City; and her brother, David Brown and his wife Susan, of Little Rock, Ark.;

nephews, Keith Stevens and his wife Stephanie, of Oklahoma City; Josh Stevens and his wife Janelle and daughter, Makynzie, of Dallas; Drew Brown and his wife Amanda and son Tucker, of the Kansas City area and numerous nieces and nephews on the Shoff side.

Memorial gifts honoring her and benefiting her family may be sent to Truity Credit Union in Bartlesville, made payable to the “Mary Lou Shoff Memorial”.

A service will be held on Friday, May 8, at 12 p.m., at Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel, Bartlesville. The Rev. Tom Cox will be the officiant.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
