Mae Dawson, age 85, of Martinsburg, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon at Homewood at Martinsburg, following an extended illness. She was born in Shelocta the daughter of the late George and Esther (Ruffner) Sharp. She is survived by a son, Daniel R. Dawson and wife Cindy of Williamsport, MD; a daughter, Sheila Springer and husband Earl of Martinsburg; 2 Grandchildren, Jonas and Alisa Dawson; and a sister, Anna Belle Spangler and husband Robert of Dubois. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Howard. Mae attended church at the Homewood Chapel. She retired in October 2007 from the Sheetz store in McKee after 16 years of service. She was a 1948 graduate of Indiana High School. Her lifelong passion was gardening and canning and she also enjoyed sewing and reading. Friends will be received from 10 until the 11AM memorial service Saturday in the Homewood Chapel; Rev. Jerry McCuller officiating. Inurnment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mae’s memory may be given to either the Homewood Auxiliary or the Homewood Activities Department, 437 Givler Drive, Martinsburg, PA 16662. Arrangements are by the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
