Earl E. Oney, age 89, of Oney Hollow, Morehead, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015, at his residence with family by his side.

He was born October 12, 1926, in Rowan County, a son of Tom and Reney Fraley Oney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Mae Rigney, Maude Johnson, Edith White, Violet White, Lucille Oney, and Catherine Oney, four brothers, Virgil Oney, Ernest Oney, Eugene Oney, and Delbert Oney; and two great- granddaughters.

Mr. Oney was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from LTV Steel in South Chicago, Illinois, and enjoyed farming, raising horses and mules, and serving the Lord. He was a member of the Haldeman Church of God and also attended the East End Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Brother Ray Glover and Brother Rex Sagraves officiating. Burial will follow in Oney Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
