Julie Lynn Lyke, 59, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, in Fulton, Indiana, after battling cancer for several years.
She is survived by five children, David Longoria, Howard Meeker Jr., Marc Meeker, Chastatie Meeker (Duncan), and Mary Tiller-Meeker; six grandchildren, Ashlee, Vince, William (Duncan), Michael, Anthony, and Elijah (Tiller); and four siblings, Debra Flickinger, Brian Lyke, Cindy Lyke-Ochoa, and Audra Hammerling.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Lyke (1983) and Ron Lyke (2015); and two sisters, Ronna Lyke and Kathy Morales.
Julie was born in Bath, N.Y., on Jan. 21, 1957. She moved to Arizona in 1971 with her parents and five of her siblings. She graduated from high school in Willcox, Ariz.
Most of her adult life was lived in Arizona being a stay-at-home mom and wife to Howard Meeker, Sr. Her children were the joy of her life, and she was happiest when she was raising them. She furthered her education while her kids were young. In 2013 she moved to Indiana to be with her daughter and help with her grandchildren.
A balloon release is scheduled for Feb. 20 at 1:30 p.m. Arizona time. Anyone who wants to send up balloons in memory of her on that day are invited to do so, no matter where they live.
